Summer Electrical Safety Tips | Point Pleasant, NJ Electrician

Electricity & Water Do Not Mix

Don't allow power cord connections to become wet. Outdoor dangers, such as power lines in contact with water can pose electrical hazards. Indoors, submerged outlets, or electrical cords may energize the water, potentially lethal.

Extension Cord Overuse

Extension cords are designed to be a TEMPORARY solution. Never bury under carpet or rugs to hide the wires to make it look better.

Extension Usage Outside

Only use extension cords that are rated for outdoor use because indoor cords can’t withstand the weather conditions when they’re used outdoors.

Flickering Lights

This is a sign of a bigger problem. Things that might cause this are bulb & socket issues, damaged electrical wires, loose service conductors, power surge issues, and much more. Contact an electrician.

Pools & Hot Tubs

Make sure the electrical connections to your pools and hot tubs are fully grounded.
